Wayne
Public School District 17 is located in the community of Wayne in the counties
of Wayne, Cedar and Dixon. The school district covers approximately 97 square
miles. The school district has a
student population of 915. In 1956, the
Carroll School merged with the Wayne Community Schools. The school district operates a K-4
attendance center in Wayne, Nebraska as well as a 5-8 and 9-12 attendance
center in Wayne. Because of the large area the district covers, the school
operates six regular bus routes and several routes for children with
disabilities. The district provides a comprehensive program of instruction as
described in this report. Extra curricular activities supplement the program
for students in grades 7-12.

The Board of Education, at Wayne
Community Schools, District 17 wishes to reaffirm its position that all
children ages 0-21 in the Wayne Carol School District regardless of their
handicapping condition are entitled to a Free Appropriate Public Education and
an equal opportunity for education according to the individual's needs.
The Board assumes the responsibility to assure that
handicapped children are identified, evaluated and verified, and are provided
or contracted for program services for all resident handicapped children who
benefit from such programs. If you have
